STANDARD AND SUPER 8

8mm has not really been my thing, so this section only has limited coverage for the most part. However, I do come across some interesting stuff from time to time so............

Bolex, Elmo, Zeiss, Dralowid, Eumig and the Kodak Sound 8 have their own pages. Where I have more than a pic or 2, there is an alphabetical order section on a Various page. A useful intro from ACW and odd snippets are below.

8mm Projectors

In December 1957, ACW started a listing of 8mm projectors, continued in a number of subsequent issues. It seems to be a much more detailed account, on a technical level, than any I have previously seen. It also gives details of many machines that were never marketed in the UK. What better intro to the world of 8mm? And of course, it dates from a time when projectors were real projectors and made of metal.

None of the original scans of the ACW listing have survived the agreat Software Disaster of 2015, so here are 3 pdfs 1 = Pt1, 2 = Pt2 and 3 and 3 + Pt 4 - 6. A part 7 was announced but I failed to find it - if anyone has found it, please let me know.

Below is an interesting take on the Standard 8 idea, in an early form of double-run but without the extra sprockets. I think it's just as well they decided to go into coffee instead.

A Bauer, plus test report and ad, then a Meopta OP 8, followed by something that looks very much the same but is a Beaulieu. These two are maybe a bit unusual, but not as much as the drunken loops of the Atom 8.
